What: Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's (PHS) 9th Annual Fall for Your Park

Where: Olney Recreation Center in Tacony Creek Park, Spencer and A Streets, Philadelphia

Who: 400 volunteers from throughout Philadelphia will gather for a day of greening and cleaning. Special guests at noon include Jane Pepper, President, PHS, Blaine Bonham, Executive Vice President, PHS, David Harris, President, Olney Recreation Advisory Council, Susan Slawson, Commissioner, Department of Recreation, Joan Blaustein, Director of Environment, Stewardship and Education Division, Fairmount Park Commission, Jared Liu, Director of Community Programs, Alliance for Community Trees, Councilwoman Marian Tasco, State Representative Dwight Evans, and State Senator Shirley Kitchen.

Details: Volunteers will assist in woodland restoration, tree planting, gardening, weeding, cleaning and painting the recreation center. Fall for Your Park is a day to recognize the vital role of public parks in the health of communities and the need to support and care for them. This event is sponsored by PHS, the Department of Recreation, Fairmount Park Commission, Olney Recreation Center Advisory Council and the citywide park revitalization network. Support is provided by PA Cleanways, Mantis, Smith & Hawken, and the Wiliam Penn Foundation. Fall for Your Park is part of NeighborWoods Month, a project created by the Alliance for Community Trees and sponsored by the Home Depot Foundation.
